Reiki at Whispering Touch

Reiki (prounced Ray-key) is a subtle and effective form of energy healing using spiritually guided life force energy. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means "Universal Life" and (Ki) which means "Energy". Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. It is believed that a person's "ki" or energy should be strong and free flowing. When this is true a person's body and mind is in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.

A Reiki session can help ease tension and stress and can help support the body to facilitate healing on all levels - physical, mental and emotional. A Reiki session is pleasant and relaxing and is often used for one's personal wellness and not just for an illness.

A Reiki session for animals is usually done in the animal's own home or territory. During the session, the animal decides how close the practitioner comes to the animal and for how long the treatment lasts. Animals will take as much or as little of the energy they need. Sessions can last anywhere from ten minutes up to and over an hour, depending on the needs of the individual animal.

During a Reiki session for humans, the client lays fully clothed on a massage table or in an "anti-gravitational" chair. The Reiki practitioner uses light touch above or lightly touching the energy centers of the body to facilitate balance and deep relaxation. Reiki supports medical treatments and any other complementary healing methods the client may be using. The session usually takes approximately an hour and the client would experience deep relaxation and healing during this time and also continuing after the session as it is needed by that particular client.
